20130610_222754

I know what you’re thinking, I have an iPad2, a Kindle3, a MacBookPro, an iPhone 3gS, a Blackberry torch, and a Samsung S3, (among others.. I could keep going but then I’d be typing all night! I kid) so why on earth would I want a new cheapo tablet, and a clone at that?

Jetsetter: 10 Travel Tips!

I have been bitten by the travel bug ever since I was young. Back when I was a little girl, my parents have taken me to various parts of the country with them, not to mention the time when we would travel all the way to my father’s ancestral house in the province every weekend. Because of this, I have been a packing semi-pro. (i always remembered to bring my Barbie and asthma medicines even when my mom woul forget them! haha)

travel tips

I have also travelled some parts of the world, sometimes wiith my family, sometimes with friends, but most of the time, alone,, and I loved every single minute of it!

Over the years of travelling, I’ve picked up quite a few travel tips and I have stuck to it religiously! Here they are! Read more…

Jetsetter: Airplane Kit

My Mom and Aunts started me early on the travelling bit. I was barely a year old when they first took me on a 10-hour roadtrip.

I was almost 3 years old when I first rode the plane out of the country.

I was 11 when I first travelled by plane solo (to visit my aunt).

Needless to say, the travel bug bit me really badly and I have not gotten it out of my system.

I do not claim to be a travel pro, but over the years of traveling I’ve picked up a few tricks here and there. I’ve also fallen prey to a lot of packing and travel mishaps that I know exactly what not to do when travelling, but hey that’s an entire blog post altogether.

Right now, let’s talk about the airplane essentials.

I’ve already covered the basic travel outfit/s for short or long haul flights, so let me share with you what I absolutely cannot live without inside the airplane.

These are not the carry-on must haves which I will probably cover in another blogpost.

This list is for when you’re already seated in the plane with your carry-on trolley in the overhead compartment and/or your handbag under your seat. and I like to put these things in a clear pouch. As you know, I love making packing lists!

Normally, before I settle in, i make googly eyes at the cute steward or hunky fellow passenger (whichever strikes my fancy) to help me carry the trolley bag atop the overhead compartment. I thank him with a coy littlle smile afterwards. and then I take my iPad and clear pouch off my hand bag and then I make sure my hand bag is under my seat. This is if I don’t need or want to change into my in-flight “uniforrm.” Otherwise, I change into my “uniform” right after i get the trolley settled in the overhead compartment. (For short flights, I don’t really change.)

anyway, these are the contents of my “clear pouch.” Enjoy! Read more…

BagRaid: Opera Edition!

As mentioned in my previous post, i’ve always wanted to do the wildly popular “what’s in your bag” blog post, but for reasons previously mentioned, i am not able to do so until i have stumbled across polyvore.

and because i am so excited to meet the Phantom on wednesday, my bag has been packed and my electricals charged and ready to go since the weekend! (yes, i am obsessive that way). i cannot contain my excitement, so i decided to make a what’s in your bag post. XD

Webby: Polyvore

“what’s in your bag” posts are always awfully popular and i’ve always wanted to join the bandwagon, but alas, my camera skillz (yes, with a Z!) are not at par (yet) with the seasoned bloggers so i havent been able to post any of it.

iPhone App Review: Pic Stitch

I’m really not the biggest photographer there is, it’s too bad that i dont have the fabled “eye” fr ohotography, but i sure want to learn.

So i dont have an SLR (yet) but i do take the occasional picture and most of the time i only have my iPhone 3gs with me. Sure it doesnt have the greatest camera phone resolution, it doesnt even have flash! But it’s what i’ve got and it’s what i use.

Not having the greatest camera resolution and in the process of acquiring prize-worthy camera skills do not stop me from taking amazing instagram-worthy pictures.

iPad App Review: GoodReader for iPad

i realized i keep on saying how much i love my iPad, and its usefulness for me as a lawstudent, a blogger, a bookworm, and just your average geek. lol!

i found out about this app when my classmate (crush) recommended it to me. we have the same model of iPad. i believe that the (future)couple that geeks together stays forever. we even have the same mac laptop. i also believe that the couple that macs together stays forever! haha!

i am reviewing this app in my capacity as a law student. this can also be useful for students in general who have saved documents they need or want to access in class.

Facebook and Twitter Ruined the Blogging Community

is it just me? but sometimes i feel as if Facebook ruined the blogging community.

i used to be a very active blogger in Multiply with a batallion of friends who read and comment on my posts but because of facebook, multiply now feels like a ghost town, save for the online sellers.

then twitter came along. don’t get me wrong, i am a very active twitter user but i feel that when twitter came along i have abandoned my blogs completely.

Text-To-Speech on the iPad

I am an avid user of my kindke3’s text to speech function. It is one of the main reason that i bought the kindle3. Before committing to the kindle, i was really torn between the nook and the kindle. Kindle’s text-to-speech function won over the nook’s expandable memory.
I use the text-to-speech function all the time to read me my ebooks while driving or merely travelling. I send personal documents to my kindle email address and i use the text-to-speech function to listen rather than read. This is especially helpful when i am studying and need to memorize bucketloads of law provisions. I just find it a lot easier to Memorize stuff when i hear it rather than merely reading it.

I am also guilty of using the function to lull me to sleep. I use it all the time that i barely listen to music nowadays. It helps that the kindle’s text-to-speech voice, especially the male vsion, is very human sounding and not that robotic.

So it surprised me that the iPad has a text-to-speech function! More Ellaisms here
